His and Her Stories

His Story:
Part I:
I first met Emma while living at Liberty Square in early 2010. I didn’t talk to her really, except for the fact that she had on an Alabama t-shirt (she dated another guy from my same mission ironically enough.) I first met her through her cousin, Whitney, who I had the pleasure of taking Mythology with. Well summer came and past, and this past school year, 2010-2011, Whitney (Emma’s cousin and roommate) started hanging out with my group of friends on a more regular basis, dragging Emma along with her. Again, I didn’t really talk to Emma (she is very shy when you first get to know her), and if you ask her, she hated coming to hang out with us. In fact she dreaded it! So with that, a few weeks into the semester I decided to take Whitney out on a date…
Part II:
The weekend after I took Whitney out, Whitney and Emma really wanted to hang out with David Crall and me, but we totally dogged them and took 2 other girls out on a double date. Whitney and Emma were super mad. After our double date, at like 2 or 3 am, I am climbing into bed and get a random phone call from Emma. Her tire had popped and she wanted Dave and I to come over and wait with her till it was fixed. I headed over there, and it was at that time I definitely took interest in her. We spent the rest of that night talking, and to be honest, hit it off working on her roommates puzzle. The spark was lit…
Part III:
I ended up going out with Emma the next weekend, which was mid-October. We started dating seriously, and before you know it 6 months had passed and we were crying, no – balling, as I dropped her off at the airport and we split for the summer. Emma and I took a break in early May and I’m glad it only took her about 4 days to realize I was Mr. Right and the one who she wanted to spend eternity with. (Those 4 days felt like an eternity to me!) On June 25th, I proposed. She said YES!
To be continued:
In the end it was the most amazing roller coaster ride I’ve ever been on. I’m just happy I get to stay in the same amusement park, because this is only the beginning to many, many crazy rides Emma and I get to take together

Her Story:
Matt and I met towards the very end of Winter semester 2010, while we both lived at Liberty Square. Whitney knew him and all his friends more so than I did and we had a few other mutual friends but the only way I "knew" them was when I would do their bird call and yell at them from Whitney's window. Matt and some of his friends also used us for our tv to watch their favorite sport, hockey! Despite the fact that he was always over for a little while, we still never talked. A few months then passed, summer was over and Fall 2010 was here.
Whit LOVED (and still does) hanging out with Matt and his friends and would always drag me along to go to their house, I wasn't too sure about him at that point. I always ended up getting stuck out in the living room awkwardly talking to Ryan and Dave Crall while Whitney would talk to Matt somewhere else. Getting dragged to their house ended up becoming more fun, and I started to go more willingly. (That willingness almost disappeared when, for some reason, we played spin the bottle and Matt ended up kissing every single girl in the circle!)
One weekend Whitney and I had this brilliant idea but we needed some help or assistance so we decided to invite Dave Crall and Matt to join in. After texting Matt to tell him we needed him that night, he shot us down and told us he and Dave were going on a double date that night. RUDE right?! Thank goodness for popped tires and creepy AAA men, I called Matt at 2am and the sweetheart that he is came right over to wait with me. We talked for many hours after my car was fixed and the sparks honestly flew while we were doing a puzzle. After that night we hung out pretty much every night, many library study dates and Rubio's dinner dates.
We officially started dating October 15, right before we both left on road trips. I knew I had fallen hard then because I couldn't wait to get home and see him! Things moved pretty quickly and I spent Thanksgiving with his family in Park City. It was assured to me even more during that week that I loved him, even though we obvs hadn't said it yet.
During our months of dating Matt never stopped surprising me with sweet little notes, yummy treats after those rough days, and an endless amount of fun dates! And he always kept me laughing!!
On June 25th he proposed in the most perfect, most special way for us and I of course said yes. We originally had planned for a December wedding, but if you know me you know that I have never been for having my wedding in December, so I went a little crazy and moved our wedding date up to August 26th. Back then it seemed so far away! But it is getting closer and closer and I cannot wait to be sealed to my best friend and spend eternity together.
I love you Matt!

Perfect Proposal

Matthew popped the question last weekend!

And might I say he did a beautiful (and very creative) job!
I'm sure our love for cake pops helped him think of such a clever and original way to ask me to marry him. I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Also.
This is one of my absolutely favorite places ever.
And I of course said yes!
The future Mr. & Mrs. Matthew Carroll
